Personal Life and History
He was born in Makati, Philippines, on September 3, 1986. He was raised in a working-class family, and he has said that this is why his parents stressed the importance of education to him and his five brothers and sisters. His mother was a teacher who encouraged her children to study hard and earn an advanced degree.
With this encouragement, Villasenor earned degrees from both Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ateneo in 2005 before receiving a master’s degree from the latter school six years later.
After graduating, Villasenor took a position as an assistant professor at his alma mater, the University of the Philippines, where he taught classes in design and technology. Despite having a successful career, he quickly became bored with the job and pursued his childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer.
He launched his clothing line in 2012 and began showing it at runway shows around the world not long after that. His designs were immediately recognized for their creativity, and soon he had more high-end clients than he could handle.
Business and Brand Rhude
In 2014, Villasenor’s designs were featured in a popular fashion magazine called GQ. This helped to bring his name more into the public eye, and it also allowed him to create a new word of his own. Rhude came from the word rude because of his desire to challenge the norms of fashion design.
He has stated that he doesn’t want to run a brand or a business but instead wants to create a platform for artistic expression. He has often been described as an artist, and his ambitious creations have earned him fans worldwide.
He is now considered to be one of the most successful independent designers working today. He is based in Los Angeles, California, and he sells his designs through his online store and several boutiques around Mexico and Australia.

Notable life events and situations
Rhuigi was featured in some magazines and fashion shows in 2014, including GQ.
In 2015, Rhude created a limited-edition collection for prestigious retailer Colette.
In early 2016, Rhude introduced its first full-scale runway show at the Fashion Week Festival. The show sold out within seconds, and the designs were available to purchase immediately after the presentation.
One of Rhude’s most notable designs is the Ube, which was introduced in late 2015. This piece is made from bamboo, and it features an unusual pattern with no parallel lines or right angles. The design has become popular among celebrities like Rihanna and Sarah Jessica Parker, but it did not go well with Rhude’s followers. One of his most passionate fans, Kenneth Cobonpue, had his collection of Ube furniture, and he openly criticized Villasenor for claiming that the design was entirely original for him.
Until 2016, Rhude was an independent company that produced one collection per year. After the success of his debut runway show at the Fashion Week Festival, Villasenor partnered with CFDA member Kevin Carrigan to produce two collections every year.
After launching his first full-scale runway show in early 2016 at Fashion Week Festival, Rhude announced its plans to launch a second show in the Fall of that same year.
