Jony Ive who is the chief design officer of Apple computers has created a solid diamond ring that will be auctioned off for charity by Sothebys. The incredible ring was created by Ive with industrial designer Marc Newson.
The ring was made by having the inside cut and smoothed by a micrometer thick water jet and a laser. The finished product has between “2000-3000 facets which has never been seen before on a single piece”.
The diamond ring was made for (RED) by Diamon Foundry and was revealed by Sothebys auction house. The estimated price of the auction is guessed to be between $150,000 and $250,000 but may be much higher due to how special this ring really is.
The ring will be auctioned along side other items during this years 2018 Art Basel in Miami Beach. The auction will take place on December 5 2018, and there will also be global bidding online.
